Okay, this might be a bit of strange rant, but please bare with me. Or actually, feel free to mute it, the whole point of this rant isn't really revealed until the very end 😓
So then; Hold My Hand. A YTPMV created by CommanderGwonam, featuring an original song made for the video.

For quite a while time, that was the only thing that I could say for certain regarding its origins. I had no idea when and where this was originally uploaded
So, when I attempt to answer the question when and where, - which has somewhat become a hobby of mine - I first turn my attention to the Wayback Machine. We know who made the video and since it's an extremely early 2010's YouTube user, their URL is still easy to figure out
And thankfully, there still exists archives of what used to be CommanderGwonam's channel while it was still up. But the question is, do these archives have the answers we're looking for regarding Hold My Hand's origins?
At first, we don't get what we're looking for, but the channel had been archived at least once per month for almost half a year, giving us a pretty decent view of what had been uploaded during this time
But at this point, we encounter an issue. There is a massive gap between May and November 2010, when nothing has been archived. So we keep going forward from November, but after the first page, the archives begin to show some flaws, redirecting us & not showing the channel at all
This chain of redirecting pages keeps going, until we reach August 9, 2011. But at this point in time CommanderGwonam's channel had been deleted and thus we are greeted with this instead
So usually if I don't find something, it's usually the original upload date. I tend to find a link to the video instead, which would answer our question where it was first uploaded. But this time, I didn't find either of them, Hold My Hand did not appear in any of the pages 😕
And I was stuck for quite a long time, until I began digging my old files for my previous projects, which included some copies made from the original uploads. While some copies failed to contain them, some retained metadata regarding when they were first rendered for YouTube
And thankfully, Hold My Hand was one of them. And if we compare the date to the period that archives covered, it fell right towards the beginning of the gap in June. So by the time we got another glimpse in November, it was already buried beneath the three more recent videos
So, unexpectedly, we now have our answer to when, but we still don't have the where. And this would be discovered almost as unexpectedly 😅
So, since I used Hold My Hand in C-Side of YTPMV and wrote a wiki article of it on KumikyokuWiki, I first decided to check if I had written anything there, if not visibly for everyone to see, at least as a comment. It turned out that I had, but it only directed towards a reupload
And even that had been taken down. So then, with all these roadblocks, how did I discover the where in the end?
Medley of YTPMV Ver.2

Or as it's named among my project folders, "poop_medley-b-side"

While I still worked on that project, I had written down a songlist of what I already had featured. And what I was planning to have featured.

And among these notes, by accident, I found this:
Now, worth to note, when I still worked on this project and especially when I released the first arrangement snippet of this project, CommanderGwonam still hadn't been suspended. I probably downloaded the original video in preparation during this time
So then, is "OF6b-V8Q43Y" the where? If this the original ID of Hold My Hand? Now, instead of going to Wayback Machine yet, let's make a quick Google search

And as we can see, while it doesn't bring up much, I think we can say that we have now found the where as well 😄
Okay, so we have now discovered details that would've otherwise been lost to time by pure chance. But what is the issue I have and the reason for this rant?

So, you have now seen how much I needed to grasp at straws and how much luck was involved. Thus my question is as follows:
Who on earth had tried to archive this particular address on July 1st, 2019? I didn't even know this address until re-discovering it today, yet someone else seems to be aware that there had been something important here at one point ^^;
In fact, I'm willing to bet that whoever left this mark is also responsible for other similarly mysterious archiving attempts since September last year. And this someone is bound to know much more about YTPMVs. And I still want to meet them

WHO IS IT?! 😫 https://twitter.com/FinnOtaku/status/1104735880189632512
Okay, rant over, that was "Finn being frustrated about lost YTPMV history and a mysterious archivist", hope everyone has a nice day/night 🙂
