Ark Of The Covenant & Knights Templars

Jerusalem, 1095 AD, epicenter of the struggle for the holy land. Muslim armies from Palestine & Egypt have ruled the walled enclave for more than 4 centuries

Jerusalem is important for at least 3 different religious traditions

It starts of course as the capital for the Jewish tradition, then Christianity comes in the world & uses the space better through the coming of Jesus.

For Muslims, it’s important because Mohammed goes from Mecca to Jerusalem (where he ascends off to the heaven).
In 1095 AD Pope Urban II summons Christians from across Europe to join a military expedition to recapture Jerusalem.

Well armed crusaders take up his challenge then violently drive out the Muslims within 4 years.

The success of the first crusade generates a flood of Christian
pilgrims heading for Jerusalem but the journey is long & dangerous.

In 1118 AD, a well connected & influential French Knight, Hugues de Payens went to the newly installed king of Jerusalem, Baldwin II & asked for his permission to defend pilgrims bound for Jerusalem.
So the king gave them permission & a base on the very center of the city, on Temple Mount in the Al-Aqsa Mosque which he was using as his palace.

So Hugues de Payens gathered 800 knights & bcos Temple Mount was their headquarters, they called themselves - The Knights Templars!
They were officially 9 members.
But many believe their official stated purpose of protecting pilgrims was simply a cover

The first thing they did was a survey of the Mount, including all the underground passages, there’s a belief that they may have found the Ark Of The Covenant.
The Ark Of The Covenant holds the covenant from God to man & that is physically, the two tablets representing the Ten Commandments.

Moses was given specific instructions on how the Arch was to be constructed & he followed them perfectly.
One of the instructions he was given was there should be two angels called Cherubim sitting on top of the Ark facing each other, & it was the space between these angels, where the wings came together to cover the Ark, that was the Holy space, where the power of God wud manifest!
Certainly Templars wud have been after the Ark Of The Covenant, it was the ultimate weapon, according to the Old Testament

Curiously after 10yrs, Templars secret excavations at the Temple Mount suddenly came to a halt. Is it possible they found what they were looking 4? the Ark!
Some researchers suggests that coming into possession of the Ark, is what allowed the Templars to extend their influence & began to recruit new members from all across Europe.

With their ranks swollen to more than 5000 Knights between 1118 & 1307 AD,
the Templars soon found protecting Pilgrims on the road to Jerusalem could be more than just a spiritual calling.

It is also a chance to increase their wealth & power. Travelers throughout Europe, needed more than a physical police force to keep their properties safe
So Templars came up with a system recognized by historians as the WORLD’s FIRST BANK

The Templars worked out a system where Pilgrims can deposit their money in their home city, go to Jerusalem with a ‘LETTER OF CREDIT’ presents it & receives their money
This way, highway armed robbers and thieves were not able to get their money.

But there was a clause that if you died enroute to Jerusalem & an awful lot of people died on their journey, then the Templars could take all your money & they did.
The Knights Templar horde was given more access to different countries by the Pope Innocent III & also the Pope gave them Tax exemptions which was a very interesting thing as well.

This was something like a precursor to a multinational corporation, a very powerful enterprise,
the story is well known that they have lent an enormous amount of money to the king of France.

Having the king of France in their debt, put the Templars in a position of an incredible amount of power but also in extraordinary danger.
King Philip IV was left with two choices: pay them or destroy them.

To get out of debt to the order of Knights, the king of France decided the Templars were Satanist, they were defiling the church & gets them drawned up.
King of France called on Pope Clement V (his pawn) to back him up & press charges against Templars

The Grand Master reported to the Pope & no one else. So the Pope was siding with the king of France & had the Knights imprisoned & burnt at the stake & they felt horribly betrayed.
On Friday Oct 13, in 1307, King Philip IV arrested the Grand Master Of The Knights Templars, Jacques de Molay.

Among charges brought against the Knights, was the worship of a hidden idol, an idol that many believe to be the Ark Of The Covenant.
Was King Philip attempting to discover where the Knights had hidden it? In the end, the Grand Master refused to reveal any Templar secrets.

On 18 March 1314, he was burned at the stake. As Jacques de Molay stood at the funeral scaffold, he cursed the King & he cursed the Pope.
And he said that “both of them will be called before God, before the end of the year & a day.” Within a year, the Pope dies of a prolonged illness, within a year, the King dies of a stroke on his way to hunt.

But it doesn’t end there, over the course of the next 14 years,
the king of France’s bloodlines, his three sons & his grandson all died in somewhat mysterious circumstances & this destroyed the Capetian dynasty also knows as the House of France.

Arrested, convicted of heresy, tortured & executed, is this the end of the Knight Templars?
