He also wasn’t cowed by death threats and actually getting stuck for it. In his first lawsuits with Shreveport oil magnates he understood that common hatred of shitty mid management can translate into loyalty of a growing base of people who remember you.

Huey was anti-War. He did not “hate anyone over there” and disliked Wilson’s crusade for democracy ideologically.

This sort of displays the in built tensions of the New Democrats even before FDR.
