hey just a periodic reminder if you hate women writing mlm so much you can find Authentic Gay Male Writings at http://nifty.org and i promise you you won't like most of them
in pursuing these stories you will encounter: rape treated as ok like the problematic yaoi stereotypes that ppl attribute only to women authors: random pissing where it really doesn't need to be; and a lot of writing about adjusting balls
if you truly believe cis gay men are the end all be all of writing mlm please, take a gander at http://nifty.org and try to pretend it doesn't change your mind.
also since someone made a point that there will be dense fuckers misinterpreting what i say ill preempt it a bit by saying: these writers im talking about are 100% valid. they're amateur writers giving their stories to an archive.
but you have to contend with the fact women care a fuck of a lot more about consent and placing emphasis on "safe sex" and depicting condoms and careful foreplay than 95% of the male writers on http://nifty.org do
there's a huge lack of prep in the stories, presumably bc the cis gay dudes writing them are writing it for the fantasy, not the reality of anal
i am still at work and have more shit to do but now that ppl are paying attention i need to actually plug one of the greatest movies by mlm for mlm
please
watch vampire boys
please
watch vampire boys
bc some well-meaning ppl think i am criticising the dudes writing at nifty: i am not. nifty is a completely different community from ao3 and is a place where ppl who know literally zero about writing contribute regularly and that is amazing. ppl have the freedom to fuck up there.
i genuinely love bad writing. i don't even mean that in a negative sense. i love that actual children write complete garbage on wattpad bc even if its bad by my standards it is good for them and good for the ppl who like it. writing should not just be for good writers.
literally all of us were complete fucking garbage and made mistakes that today fandom twitter would claim belies our true personalities and who we are as people.
when i talk about this ppl sometimes drop "BUT WHAT ABOUT FANDOM RACISM U THINK THAT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO EXIST??" so i want to say: no, but i think the piece in question should guide how you call someone out. I've seen some extremely gentle criticisms in mxtx fandom where ppl
point out cultural mistakes the author made and the author loses their shit about it when the corrections were warranted. the author should absolutely be open to correcting their mistakes.
but the fact an author fucks up in the first place isn't inherently wrong if they are honestly trying to be respectful.
what makes them disrespectful is how they treat the ppl who are telling them "hey this is important to my culture so let me tell you why so you can adjust this part" bc if you are a writer writing another culture you should really fucking respect ppl who are part of that culture.
that's a tangent about what i believe in general though bc i don't know how that sort of thing is handled on nifty. i imagine ppl email the authors to tell them what was bad?? but any discussions had would happen out of sight.
47 of you liked these tweets for some reason so im hoping that means at least all of you will watch vampire boys
