Four scriptures that have been shaping my attitude to social media:
1. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. –– James 3:5-6
We need to be cautious. Our tongues (& therefore thumbs) can do a world of damage.

2. Go on up to a high mountain,
O Zion, herald of good news;
lift up your voice with strength,
O Jerusalem, herald of good news;
lift it up, fear not;
say to the cities of Judah,
“Behold your God!” –– Isaiah 40:9
We need to be focussed.

We need to be focussed.
Is it apparent from our posts/comments, for example, that God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love? Or are we asking people to behold our opinions, rightness, big dealness?
3. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. –– Romans 12:18.
We need to be peaceable. Not always possible, but the problem should never be on our end. Do we tend to escalate things, or move toward offline understanding and resolution?

4. We pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face. –– 1 Thess. 3:10
We need to be present. Social media interactions can be an onramp to, and supplement to, physical in-person interaction, but they can't be a substitute for it.
