Thread on who to trust and not to trust during wars.
1. The Indian public must learn to ignore the idle, misinformed and malafide tweets and posts of Indian communists, liberals and seculars. They should instead place their trust in their own government first of all.
2. People should rely on information released by the official agencies of the Indian armed forces and related govt bodies. When in doubt check these out - @ADGPI @indiannavy @IAF_MCC @NorthernComd_IA @DRDO_India @ITBP_official @PIB_India @PIBFactCheck
3. Most of the journos at leftist and secular media outfits in India are rightly described as paid news and fake news creators. Many are surely working for foreign governments. Why are Ajai Shukla and Rana Ayyub on the same page as Pakistan and China always? Think about it.
4. While it is the job of Beijing-based Global Times to reflect China's view, why are the journalists at NDTV, The Print, The Wire, Squint, phint and Business Standard parroting China's official line? Don't give the enemy's views traction. Remember, loose lips sink ships.
5. Like it or not, we are at war. In wars good men die, but they also kill a lot of bad men. We will lose men and that's the sad reality. But each time when our soldiers die, don't be despondent. They died proudly doing their job. If you lose morale you shame their martyrdom.
6. How many Indian soldiers died in the 1971 War? 3,843. How many Pakistanis did they kill? Around 9,000. How many Paki did they wound? 25,000. How many Pakis did they capture? Over 93,000. You get the picture? Those 3,843 Indian soldiers did not die in vain. They did their job.
7. How many Indian soldiers died in the 1999 Kargil War. Over 500. How many Pakistanis did they kill. Well over 2,500. India won that war despite Pakistan capturing many peaks in the early stages. An Indian submarine was minutes away from smoking Karachi when Pakis surrendered.
8. I get a lot of messages during crises. "Sir, what do you think is happening on border? Is Cheena winning?" Am I an expert? Do I have a hotline to XIV Corps? Why do people think journalists know everything? In fact, journalists are likely to be the most misinformed.
9. Even ex army people spread misinformation. Lt Gen Panag spread the canard that 5,000 Chinese troops had built barracks on Indian territory. He is a lackey, a fallen soldier. Among the few who can be relied upon to tell the truth is Major Gaurav Arya who is knowledgeable.
10. In 1971 and 1999 Indians relied on govt channels for reliable news. Morale remained high throughout. But now every Tom, Dick and Harry (or rather Thomas, Yusuf and Kanhaiyya) is a content creator. Therefore, it is all the more important to ignore fakers and liars.
