Those nicknames. https://twitter.com/AxelRipper/status/1273279412721586181
I believe that they used bias-ply tires in that series in 2004 and had an interesting mix of cars that had Mercurys and Pontiacs competing with Toyotas in the same stock car racing series.
Toyota entered NASCAR through the Goody's Dash series in 2000 and their first stock car was a Celica.

Robert Huffman, father of @LandonHuffman was the first person to successfully campaign a Toyota in NASCAR. https://twitter.com/FactsNascar/status/1199093892785856513
While that was the first manufacturer backed entry of Toyota in NASCAR, there had been some individual entries in the past like this one from Davey Allison in 1982 at Darlington. http://racersreunion.com/tom-knox/gallery/57209/davey-allison-1982-toyota-dash-car
Davey Allison also entered a Toyota in the Dash Seires in 1984 at Daytona.
That's true. I believe that Goody's Dash Celica used the 5VZ-FE Toyota V6. This was originally found in stuff like the 4Runner and Land Cruiser but the NASCAR version was stroked to 3.8L and had special cams and a carburetor in order to meet rules. https://twitter.com/charlie_grafton/status/1273292586996961282?s=20
To bring things back around to the original tweet from @AxelRipper, here is a video of why they moved the numbers in the Dash Series in 2004 and how "they were "looking to the future" with the numbers and names on the car and changing qualifying/practice.

If you keep watching that video you'll find out about the proposed series of Miata Oval track racing called "Mean Miatas."

Yes, Miatas doing short track oval racing.

The cars were basically Spec Miatas with small modifications. The results from the first race at New Smyrna Speedway in March of 2004:

1. Paul Sheppard
2. Peter Keane
3. Chris Mason
4. Paul Hensel
5. John Wilding
6. Roy Parks
7. Joe Evans
That seem like it was a fun idea from @TomLongRacing. I bet there would be some locals around here that would enjoy Spec Miatas at South Boston even now. https://twitter.com/TheKenChilds/status/1273303475573518336?s=20
That makes sense. https://twitter.com/bradxperez/status/1273304827670429696?s=20
