It is clear that Arizona is in a deep #COVID crisis. Yesterday we saw 2,392 new cases of #COVID19-shattering a daily record of 1,680, which was only ONE week ago. Today we see 1,827 new COVID cases for a total of 40,924 known positive cases.
It now must be asked--At what point will these numbers be high enough for Governor @dougducey to take action to slow the spread of this virus?
On top of those disturbing numbers, several experts suspect #Arizona will hit hospital capacity by July. Waiting until we are at 100% capacity is too late. We must mitigate until we can medicate and a vaccine is not in the near future https://www.abc15.com/news/state/experts-state-hospitals-could-hit-capacity-in-july
That capacity could be reached much sooner though. A doctor in Tucson tweeted this out yesterday https://twitter.com/drdetectve/status/1272553380968198144
Arizonans want to rely on their governor to protect them, but that trust has eroded. Senate Democrats have tried to be supportive of Governor @dougducey, but based on current #COVID data & the ongoing lack of transparency, he’s made is very difficult to stand behind him
We need to protect the health and lives of Arizonans. To do that, we need to follow the science. There are common sense and effective measures that the Governor should implement immediately to #SlowTheSpread

The Editorial Board of @azcentral agrees. They published this editorial today: "Gov. Ducey has avoided hard rules and edicts to try to coax Arizonans to alter their behavior. But the time has come for tougher measures." https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/editorial/2020/06/17/times-demand-it-gov-ducey-order-arizonans-wear-face-masks/3204336001/

Finally, It's not enough to have hospital beds. We need to prevent people from even needing a hospital bed in the first place. We must do everything we can to protect ourselves and our community from this virus. We must follow the science. It is the only way to #SlowtheSpread
In the midst of this, we can't forget unemployment numbers are historically high, many Arizonans aren't getting the rental assistance & unemployment benefits they need and small businesses continue to struggle. We must keep fighting for sustained aid to hardworking Arizonans
We know Governor @DougDucey sees #COVID19 pandemic as a real and life-threatening crisis. So we demand that his actions more clearly reflect the dangerous reality we are living through. We hope to see these actions in his press conference today.
