What a long day.
My almost 2 year old figured out how to climb out of her crib and woke everyone up at 4:30.
But I was ready for #JuneteenthDay
When I got to work, I sat in my car to listen to @npr read the emancipation proclamation.

And I thought of all of the times I’ve heard the July 4th Declaration of Independence, and what it meant.

This means more.

I thought about all of the ways I have contributed to racism in #academicmedicine , and why I didn’t know at the time. I vow to push myself as an educator and colleague to do better.

And I reflected on the awesome work on #medtwitter the last few weeks.

From @CPSolvers announcement of a new Anti-Racism in Medicine series with @dereckwpaul and @UREssien https://twitter.com/cpsolvers/status/1274013458443284480
To @BrwnSkinMatters and @malone_mk and how this absolutely vital part of medicine training is only now being recognized as important. https://twitter.com/malone_mk/status/1273668711208149002
To the amazing voice of @LashNolen

Pushing #medtwitter to learn more and be better. Not just for ourselves but our patients and community. https://twitter.com/lashnolen/status/1274035041991974917
And many others including @gradydoctor @DrOniBee @uche_blackstock @ChristleNwora @DrJCoftheDC @DrQuinnCapers4

Thank you #medtwitter for educating and encouraging me to be better this #JuneteenthDay
