So here I am publicly calling our @ravelry for their ableism.

I'm so incredibly disappointed with the attitude towards the seizures, migraines & other harm caused by the new site.

It seems the new design is more important than user's health & accessibility.
I'm loathed to type this. Given the often unquestioning support for Ravelry it's probably not going to do me any favours.

But the attitude towards requests for basic accessibility & ableist discussions growing elsewhere on the site make the place unsafe and uninclusive.
I am so fond of Ravelry - its had such an influence on the fibre industry!

But maybe too much. They've got an awful lot of power. And we're all so used to them doing better.

We're all raising our voices about the dismissive attitudes to accessibility because We Care.
Please do better, @ravelry.
Seriously - members have had fucking seizures and the animations and glaring graphics are still there.
This is a typical response to folks asking for the accessibility to be factored. It's all over Ravelry & goes unquestioned. It's ableist.

It would really help if people stopped tone policy folk who have been harmed & are advocating for change.

You bet we're pissed off.
I would love to know why moderators are allowing so many ableist posts, calling us entitled, "throwing our toys out of the pram" & more.

Because it all reeks of ableism.
