Some ppl advise not being so vocal on social media because it may deter your job prospects... they say wait until you get the degree, the job, etc. I am thoroughly convinced that censoring yourself at any stage when standing for what's right is never a good plan.
Here's why. There will ALWAYS be a reason not to be "too vocal." You get the job then it's "don't be too vocal because you may not get promoted."

"Don't be too vocal because you may scare our investors away"
"Don't be too vocal bc you may not get a post doc."

"Don't be too vocal because you won't get a PI position."

"Don't be too vocal because you may not get tenure."

"Don't be too vocal because they won't promote you to chair."
There is never a "right" time to be vocal about what's just. It's up to us to decide how we move, what we speak up for, and how we do it.

I don't want to censor myself or water myself down to end up being in a space that's about performative justice or action.
We can be strategic about when and how we speak up but these private DMs saying "don't call our X company for lacking diversity bc they won't hire you." GOODBYE. I don't wanna work there if they can't take constructive feedback because guess what?
If your company lacks diversity, you're at a disadvantage. #thatsSCIENCE

If you can't take constructive feedback, you're at a disadvantage.

That tells me that you don't recognize value or methods to make your company better.

I ain't joining a sinking ship. Get with the times.
