Why Daka could be Leicester’s long term Vardy replacement(Thread)
First lets look at run type and movement when in the box. Vardy looks to time runs in behind and use his pace to get in on goal which he tends to do all over the pitch not just one area.Whilst in the box Vardy will look to feint to trick the defender or burst into the 6 yard box.
Patson Daka emulates this style pretty much identically. Like Vardy he likes to use his superior pace to break in behind to get in on goal and shoot or use movement in the box to find space. He also times them extremely well like Vardy with both only having 0.8 offsides per game.
Vardy also has most of his shots in the box as shown by his shot map which is also the case for Daka. Daka however is superior in terms of shots P90 and touches in the box P90. But their is more space in the Austrian league but these are promising signs for a young striker.
Like Vardy,Daka is not a keen dribbler preferring to run onto passes instead of receiving it to feet and taking people on.But if he does receive to feet he’ll use the same tactic as Vardy which is to use his superior pace to burst past the defender in a 1v1. As shown by the clip.
