What I find interesting about this is not the error from whoever was doing some kind of “predicted adult height” measurement for @OfficialTM_3 (as he’s now 6’5!) but all the decisions by different staff. Also, have they looked back at the errors made to understand why? #TalentID
I’d love to know the questions that have been asked (or should have been) subsequently:
What did we miss or didn’t value enough?
What areas did we not understand?
What and who got it wrong?
What processes do we need to improve?

They are a great club so sure they have 😀
That sings true also for the ones they take through to U18/First Year pro then release:
What did we think was talent but wasn’t?
What did they not have? When should we have noticed that? Could we have developed that? Who else now may need that?
How can we avoid the same errors?
If anyone wants me to come in to their sporting place and ask these difficult and challenging questions, just shout! I’m more than happy to facilitate that kind of discussion group if you are brave enough to have your own thinking and approaches challenged!! 🙂
I don’t have a vested interest in anything other than helping people see different things through challenging assumptions.

Not working in that system means I don’t carry the personal bias that those working within it would naturally do.

But I can ask difficult questions 🙂
And even if the truth behind his release is not what got shared, the principles remain true. Gareth Southgate was released at 14 and was told he was too small, & many more, I’m sure. It’s more about the questions and rigorous assessment of all performers that’s the crucial part.
