So as yall know I keep this page 'fun' for the most part. Rarely do I have a serious thread. But given that I am a lifelong resident of Florida, well I am altering that policy for a few minutes. Yall probably know where I am going
So given these---shall we say, STARK Covid-19 numbers for my state these last few days, it is time--PAST time---for our good governor to shut everything down in Florida. I mean like yesterday
I was thinking this BEFORE today. I saw an interview with a doctor from Pinellas County(right next to where I live) stating that if these numbers continue, hospitals in that county won't have the capacity to take in new patients; Covid or not
Now come on. I have never led a city block, let along a state, but as soon as you hear reports like that, there is no decision, man. Shut it down NOW
Back in March when Gov Desantis was refusing to shut the state down, he would say 'a seven month shutdown isn't feasible' or words to to that effect. And I was like 'no one is talking that long, Gov. Just a month or two and we will see where we are'
Well he did it...finally. And yes the curve was flattened here. Up till a few weeks ago, things had gone well, comparatively speaking, down here. And he started to reopen the state
But NOW?!?!? Probably the demonstrations didn't help, but these numbers are out of control, man. Time to shut the state down and we will see where we are in a month or so
People aren't practicing social distancing down here enough. I mean this state was dumb enough to elect Rick Scott governor, or as I call him, Trump Jr, twice, AND send the bozo to the Senate so that shouldn't be surprising
Damnit sometimes people have to be saved from themselves. We clearly need it. Shut the state down, Gov. NOW
I predict that he will do it before the end of the week. He should do it this afternoon, but I doubt that happens. But there is no choice here, man. You can't have a situation where the hospitals are running out of beds for patients!
Oh, BTW, Florida, you know what is coming round the bend, right? PEAK HURRICANE SEASON! Imagine having to evacuate under THESE conditions
