If you're the sort of person who thinks carrying a "you cannot make me wear a mask under the ADA" card is a flawless victory, you're not going to listen to me anyway, but:
Do you understand to avoid inconvenience risks genuinely hurting vulnerable people? Like, badly?
Do you understand to avoid inconvenience risks genuinely hurting vulnerable people? Like, badly?
I don't even mean by infecting them with COVID. You've already demonstrated that you don't care. I mean by causing legislators to ram through amendments to the ADA which allow people to ask for details about someone else's disability.
Right now, when my left foot becomes non-weight-bearing, I am not required to disclose my complicated medical history to be allowed to have a chair. You could change that.
And yes, changing that might catch some fakers, you lying faking asshole. Studies have been done. People definitely fake disability for the tiny perks that come with the declaration. Care to guess how many?
The most generous estimate says one person in fifty who claims a disability might--MIGHT--be faking. Meanwhile, one disabled person in five is likely to pretend to be able-bodied by not wanting to risk a confrontation asking for the accommodations they're guaranteed under law.
One person in fifty. ONE. You would blow up my life out of a combination of your own selfish desire to avoid discomfort, and the need to see that one person suffer for daring to want to sit down, or board the airplane early, or...
Most of the "perks" that come with disability look like punishments when looked at from a different angle, but gotta catch that faker, am I right?
(And this doesn't even go into the people who genuinely can't wear a mask for whatever reason. There ARE medical conditions that forbid it. How do you think they feel, watching you turn them into a punchline because you're too self-centered to cover your fucking nose?)
A good friend of mine likes to say that there's nothing wrong with most people apart from not being raised by her mother. I hope your mothers are all still alive to look at what you're doing and know how badly they fucked up at some point.
I literally don't know how to tell you that you should care about other people.
