Exiled Tibetans President, Lobsang Sangay has said that Nepal should be alert about Chinese advances in their country to avoid a fate like Tibet, because the Chinese Communist Party is following elite "co-optation" in Nepal right now just like they did it in Tibet 60 years ago
What is Elite co-optation? In politics, especially international politics, it is defined as "buying" of elites in a prey country, including top politicians, religious leaders, business leaders, intellectuals, and even journalists, so that when the actual occupation happens...
the elites in the country are already divided, with one faction siding with the predator country confusing the rest of them siding with the original prey. What does it mean? It means that when the chips are down, you would think your countrymen are with you in warding off invader
even if they don't agree with you in general. But in reality when the waters are rough, the "elites" would say, "oh, isse achcha to yehi rule kar le, the current rulers are so bad, etc". This leads to confusion, not just among the masses but also the other half which is siding
with their homeland... It happened on a large scale in Tibet back then... Chinese Communist Party went a step further and even co-opted the bureaucrats who were working with administration, rendering the functioning of Tibetans, useless.
To overwhelm, confuse, and demoralise Tibet's general populace, a large number of these elites were invited to Beijing and when they returned, they would tell the humble Tibetan populace the tales of PRC's booming cities & busy factories. An economically weak Tibet was impressed
Gradually, the Chinese made the Tibetan Army & Lhasa's foreign bureau, absolutely toothless, as they are now...
While the takeover was implemented through elites, since the "peaceful liberation" (as dubbed by Chinese Communist Party), they have ruled over Tibet with an iron fist

Why do I write this thread on Tibet? Because this elite co-optation is happening not only in Nepal, but across the world & more vigorously in SouthAsian countries, including India
Everyone who stands with China & not with India is a co-opted elite or too gulllible innocent person
