I am sorry to my Inuit fans (the politically correct term for the e-word) for the pain and disappointment I have caused you by eating Eskimo Pie ice cream bars so often when I was a kid. I never thought about the impact it would have on others' lives, I was just being selfish.
I have also used Aunt Jemima syrup on my pancakes. Not intentionally, but I just happened to pick up a random bottle off the shelf without looking too closely at the label, and I did put it on my pancakes --- multiple times. I'm sorry.
Also, for many years at Thanksgiving I preferred the white meat. I thought it tasted better, but now I know I was wrong. It was just my unconscious bias manifesting itself right in front of me because of the systemic racism that surrounded me my entire life. #ImSorry
I have also eaten tacos on Cinco De Mayo, but in no way did I intend to encroach on this important Mexican holiday, I had no business imposing my whiteness onto your amazing culture, especially on your special day. #ImSorry
I watched the Dukes of Hazzard when I was a kid, my favorite show. Even had a General Lee toy car. I just thought they were some good old boys, never meaning no harm. But now I know who they really were. Nazis. #ImSorry
I served watermelon at a 4th of July party once, and I didn’t even think about my black friends and how that might make them feel. I did call and apologize, but they are so kind and understanding, they pretended it wasn't a problem at all, but I know that it was. #ImSorry
I also emulated Bruce Lee when I was a kid after watching Enter the Dragon, jumping around doing ninja kicks and making "whooooahhhh" and "Heeeyaaa!" sounds. I hope the Asian community forgives making a mockery of such a hero. #ImSorry
