Why Bayern must do all they can to extend Alaba

First of all, one of the key factors of Alaba is his versatility. Alaba has the tactical knowledge and ability to play as a LB, CB and DM. This has allowed him to seamlessly shift to the CB role.

Alaba moved to CB at a time Bayern were plagued by injuries and he hasn't looked back ever since. His move to CB has also helped witn the emergence of Davies as a LB and here's why..

Davies has said recently in interviews that he learns from Alaba and he directs him. In fact, Alaba also directs the backline. It can be seen in games how Alaba sometimes gives out instructions to Davies and that is a key factor as to why Davies has succeeded so well at LB.

Alaba is currently the leader and the brain behind our defence. He's been one of our best players this season and he's young enough that he still has his peak years ahead of him.

While we do also have Lucas, he isn't better than Alaba at the moment. He's nowhere near as fit, he doesn't have the same connection with Davies, and his passing isnt even close to Alaba's. Lucas is better at tackling and faster..

But those traits don't matter as much compared to what Alaba offers. Alaba's ability to play out the back is almost unparalleled in the Bayern squad and he's undoubtedly one of our best passers. He's a perfect match for Hansi's system.

Final thoughts:
Alaba is one of those players we absolutely have to extend. Hes vital to our system and he offers us things that no one else does.
