The end of 2019 is now further away than the start of 2021.

Here are some highlights, month per month, of the first half of this incredible year...
January:

Dawn on New Years Day in Baghdad. US embassy was attacked the night before by PMF militants. Days later, IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani is killed in a drone strike outside BGW.

On the 8th, Iran retaliates with an attack on Ayn al-Asad airbase in Iraq. 60+ casualties.
February:

Donald Trump is acquitted in the senate on both articles of impeachment. US and Taliban reach a conditional peace agreement in Doha.

On the 11th, WHO names the rapidly spreading Wuhan-originated coronavirus strain COVID-19.
March:

DJI falls 2,997.10 points; largest single day point drop in history. COVID fears shutter global economy, with hot spots emerging throughout Europe. Economic contraction shocks oil prices.

Major sporting events are cancelled indefinitely. School is cancelled nationwide.
April:

One million global COVID-19 cases. Trump pulls US funding of WHO. Global COVID-19 epicenter shifts from Europe to the United States, where lockdown continued.

Oil prices reach record low. WTI values briefly went negative.

US/China tensions soar.
May:

Border clashes lead to a now months long military standoff between India and China along the Himalayan border.

Global COVID-19 cases continue to rise. US eases lockdowns as slow economic recovery commences.

Nationwide protests after death of George Floyd in MN.
June:

Global COVID-19 cases pass 10 million. After weeks of declining new cases, states across the nation report massive spike in positive tests.

DPRK demolishes Inter-Korean Liaison Office with South Korea in Kaesong.
