IMPORTANT: As a businessman, I see the drop in unemployment as a big validation of progressive principles. We harnessed mountains of fiscal & monetary stimulus & showed we can help Americans in real crisis. The lesson: We need the Left to fix other problems too. Here's why: (1/5)
If we actually applied a smart, progressive approach to our incredibly powerful economic engine, we could end poverty, provide health insurance for all, rebuild our infrastructure & so much more, and still have money left over. Are jobs really the only issue worth tackling? (2/5)
The irony is that the "America is the Greatest" crowd have told us we can’t afford the things that would make us truly great. The fact is we have more economic potential than we realize and a takeaway from this crisis is there is nothing this nation can’t afford. (3/5)
That means Medicare For All so people can finally get quality care without going bankrupt. Free college so your life isn't ruined with debt before it even begins. Big improvements to public transportation & public housing stock. We just showed we can afford these things. (4/5)
We can do all that & still have a thriving free market because we're the world’s reserve currency, have the best rule of law for our economy & doing the above unlocks huge consumer growth. In short? Everything the left has been saying about investing in people is correct. (/END.)
