Someone really oughta coin a term that captures the overwrought, hysterical reaction that a lot of white people are having to that book entitled "White Fragility."
I haven't read the book. I'm generally familiar with the argument and it sounds worth taking into account. It strikes me that anyone who's read James Baldwin or other black writers who have explored the psychic dynamics of racism would be unsurprised by what she's saying.
I mean, it's just a book. Maybe you mostly agree with it, maybe you have reasons for not liking it. But all of the excessive teeth gnashing and renting of garments about it seems like kind of a tell, no?
