#LazioMilan 0-3: Match Review:

Tonight saw Milan's best performance of the season, as Stefano Pioli's men cruised to victory at the Stadio Olimpico. Going into this one, Optimism was low from a Milan standpoint but how we were wrong!
The first 20 minutes or so were a little cagey, neither side willing to over-commit and both playing good football.

However, the Rossoneri took the lead through Calhanoglu, thanks to some top class build-up play and a bit of luck in the deflection that carried it past Strakosha.
Soon after, Ibrahimovic had the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside, as the big Swede timed his run a little early, despite Saelemakers putting in a wonderful cross.

However, Zlatan would have his moment... just, as his penalty was saved but slid under the keeper.
Worryingly, Milan had been in this position before, having lead 2-0 at the break against Inter. However, Pioli made the correct decision to keep the intensity and attacking play, all which came to fruition in the 59th minute when Ante Rebic scored a decisive third goal.
However, the scoreline doesn't tell the whole story - Milan squandered a few excellent chances, Giacomo Bonaventura, Frank Kessié, and twice Theo Hernandez guilty culprits.

That said, for the first time in a very long time, the Rossoneri have a positive goal difference!
This crucial win puts Milan temporarily ahead of Gattuso's Napoli, who play Roma tomorrow.

This also means Juventus have a 7 point advantage over Lazio, with 8 games left, Lazio will need a miracle to avoid letting Juve claim a 9th consecutive scudetto.
Overall, it was a wonderful performance from Milan. Every single player played to their best ability. That's why there's going to be no "player ratings" tonight.

Can't believe we're saying this, but the team played so well there isn't even a MOTM!
However, we can pick out a few standouts:

.Franck Kessié = absolute machine, pocketed Milinkovic-Savic all night long

. Zlatan Ibrahimovic = only played the first half, but he was getting involved in build-up play and causing Lazio problems. Top stuff from the main man!
.Andrea Conti = had his critics this year, but pulled another splendid performance out of the bag. Crucially prevented a goal when 2-0 up by playing Lazzari offside.

.Theo Hernandez = Brilliant offensively and defensively. A little work on finishing but who cares. Milan won 3-0.
Where did this come from? Brilliant stuff, and long may it continue.

Next time out, Milan host first-placed Juventus at San Siro. Hopefully nothing serious in Hakan's injury and another great performance ahead of us!
