Let me summarise and share my honest thoughts, when it comes to these people of religious authority who abuse their position of power and abuse victims, wallahi I have a special place of hatred in my heart for them, and I have a separate page dedicated to exposing them too.
So when I tweet about asking for and gathering credible evidence for the allegations made through an official channel such as an organisation that helps victims of abuse, why do some people see this as a man "defending a rapist" by asking for true justice to be served?
Instead of a screenshot shared here and there, yes this build hype around the issue and yes people will jump on it and will roast him on social media, but months down the line the abuser comes back to what he was doing before if he has a big loyal follower base like Fatih.
This is exactly what happened with Hasanat. I think in the summer of 2019 was when he was first exposed, but still he came back and continued doing what he did. It was early 2020 when alhamdulillah with al-Madad's help who spoke with the victims, wives, families, authorities etc
He was brought to justice and properly exposed. I spent hours on end too speaking to family members and speaking to those on the inside close to Hasanat to help catch him too and get evidence against him.
Alhamdulillah we were able to gather chats and credible evidence from all different sorts of people involved, along with that we had evidence of him in breach of his terror conditions on which he was released from prison in 2012.
Due to that alhamdulillah he was sent to Belmarsh prison, and the police said they would be investigating the domestic abuse allegations too of which we provided them with the evidence that was gathered.
In the case of Fatih, if a crime has been committed and it can be proven then the authorities need to get involved, and often victims find it hard to come forward so with the help of al-Madad they can do that. That is to do with allegations such as rape and drugging victims etc
When it comes to allegations of abuse of power of his position, if its not a legal crime then this is not for the authorities. This if for al-Madad along with the local Imams and elders to deal with. If found guilty he needs to be stripped off his position.
And he should not be allowed to work with women or children again in an islamic position of authority. But let me stress again, the first step is gathering credible evidence and dealing with it through an official channel. Not just social media.
Yes social media comes in handy to raise awareness and expose, but it needs to be dealt with officially too. Or else these people after being exposed remerge even if its with a lesser following and they continue to carry on their work.
