I love telling stories. One reason why I joined twt was bc I wanted to meet ppl, get to know 'em, & create stories about/with them. I believe all humans r beautiful & the world should know it. I did so initially, with @ashurangeela, and man, that was amazing.
However, over the few weeks, it’s gotten a lot more -ve than +ve. Now, I’m pretty strong enough emotionally to take on things. But it is the 114th day of me living all by myself amid the quarantine, and I have to watch out for myself.I really appreciate each and everyone of you
who have ever seen wrong and raised your voice about it. Twting may or may not change the world, but it certainly creates some ripples. We are now able to hold people accountable for things, thanks to the internet. I used 2 live in a delusion that teens today are the worst. That
they don’t appreciate what they have. Twt broke that delusion for me. Some of the smartest, kindest ppl here i know are 16-17 year olds. @WhoShotMyCow is one of the best. Unlearning is beautiful. More of us should do that.
Yesterday, @singhisqueeen tweeted about how dangerous it can be to upload your pictures, and i’m not even considering identity theft. Hate to break it to u but the real world is like the wolf dressed as grandma we read about in the red riding hood story. It's anything but kind.
It will thrash you until you bleed, and thrash you again.
While it is not her place or mine to tell you what to do with the pictures of your amazing, beautiful bodies, her tweet came from a place of care and caution. Having been a law student myself, I KNOW what goes on in courts
in this country and sorry, but they don’t care about women freeing their bodies or embracing their sexualities. When questioned about homosexuality, a SC lawyer shamelessly called the LGBTQ+ community as “individuals who failed to evolve”. How do I know? I was there.
The world is scared of women who take charge, and has always done things to thwart their freedom. I understand that little acts of rebellion go a long way, but Ion think Udita meant to police you into deleting your pictures. When you’re out there, looking at injustice in the eye,
you know that tweets don’t mean shit. You really have to put yourself out there, get your hands dirty, to bring a change. Whether it was Eve tricked into eating the apple, Pandora tricked into opening the amphora, Sita being accused of infidelity, Draupadi being ‘shared’ among 5
brothers, Medusa being raped and turned into a monster for it, Surpnakha getting her nose severed, Cleopatra being accused for the fall of Julius Caesar, our stories are full of women being put down, degraded. Divided, we don’t stand a chance against patriarchy, but if we stand
together, maybe we can change the world, educating one man at a time. Thank you for bearing with me and have a good day.
