"...he soon applied to the Officer Training program that was established in July 1950 and commissioned as an Engineer Officer in the South Korean Army. He was placed in the frontlines to include Camp Casey and Panmunjeom, and survived the war.

"...that he was selected to be amongst the 50 or so Soldiers to train in the United States in 1955. He then took Command Command in Yanggu in the Kangwon Provice. He then served in the ROK HQ as a Staff Officer and then deployed to Vietnam as a Battalion Commander...
"He retired from the Army as a Colonel and then immigrated to California, United States with his wife, 2 daughters and 2 sons. His son, Kwang S. Kim, also served in the ROK Army. He was in the Signal Corps at a supporting BN for ROK HQ in Yongsan. He was honorably discharged...
