Here's what I have told Menlo Church I am asking for. This is what it would take to regain trust. Menlo community, what requests have you communicated to the church? 
1. John Ortberg and the elder board must step down. They have lied and deceived the congregation for eight months; and John continues to lie to the news. There is no path to regaining trust where they remain in leadership.
2. A GRACE-selected investigator must look into *everything* wrt this volunteer: the youth groups, the coaching, the music lessons, tutoring, missions trips, whatever else we don't know about.
2b. The investigation should also include past cases where MPPC staff inappropriately preyed on students (at least two already reported on Twitter). Furthermore, this must include John and the Elder Board's deception and coverup for the past eight months.
3. The church as a whole must apologize profusely and publicly to Danny for casting him as a liar/exaggerator who is lashing out and doesn't deserve even the dignity of a response. It is hard to ascribe it to anything but transphobia.
3(cont'd) Laura Ortberg Turner would not have received this response. Those who distrust Danny are following the lead of the Elder Board and staff who allowed Beth's smears of Danny to stand. Everyone is complicit.
4. The church's culture and attitude toward ministry with youth must change. It is breeding problems.
If you haven't written to your pastor yet, DO IT! They can't know what you think unless you tell them. Technically the elder board outranks everybody. We need the whole church to speak up.
