In response to his #COVID19 gaffe, @zosanoli pointed to a recent appointment as ambassador of @C2SDKids. Spoiler alert for @vosdscott @andy_keatts @UTuncovered: COVID-skeptic Noli Zosa's appointments to boards are based on cronyism and outright lies to the City Council. /2
Here's @zosanoli standing for a picture. But here's the problem: the founders of @C2SDKids are Larry and Tammy Hershfield, two max donors for Noli, buddies who clearly appointed him ambassador to look good for the kids. But that's just where this problem starts. /3
Hershfields own private equity firm Ranch Capital. According to his resume, sent to @shermansd7 office on 1/24/19 for appointment to SD Mobility Board, @zosanoli leases property in Escondido to Ranch Capital. All in all, they were behind now failed Lilac Hills Ranch Project. /4
Seems he listed the job in his 9/29/17 resume to @ChrisWardD3 when applying to Parks&Rec Board. At that time, lease was held by Accretive Inv. & 2015 draft EIR for Lilac Hills also shows Noli has an investment in the property, and his 2019 disclosure show he drew income too. /5
2018 @sdut: Lilac Hills Ranch, a proposed housing development is back. Key element of the project: it still calls for 1,746 homes/condos on 608 acres of farmland, under the control of Ranch Capital. It just lost again last week 4-1 at the BOS thanks in part to @nathanfletcher /6
Weird twist: while saying he was COO in 2017 and 2019, "Zosa Gardens" had its county health records closed since 8/27/12, and the website for "Zosa Estate" was shut down in 2015, last Yelp review was 11/2015. So what exactly was Noli the Chief of operating 2016-present? /7
Also, when you're the COO of a place that's basically closed, how do you draw $10k-$100k from it? And were you the CEO, or the COO? Form 700 has CEO...resume says COO. That could be a typo, but that money comes from somewhere...like a lease to the Hershfields, maybe? /8
? for @zosanoli: Can you be appointed to anything on your own merits, or are you always involved in some shady deal? Was this a Trump-style quid pro quo with shadow investor of yours, give them a good lease on your land & you get appointments to look good for voters? /9
Final ? for @zosanoli: did you lie to @ChrisWardD3 & @shermansd7 to get appointed to the boards you're on? Question for @sdutIdeas, as stated in your Feb endorsement, is this "the sort of integrity and compassion San Diegans should expect from Zosa"? COVID Skeptic, now this? /end
