Researchers are looking at whether a nasal rinse - like a Netti Pot - can reduce COVID-19 virus in the nasal passages and lower chances it moves en masse to the lungs. Trials are underway now adding baby shampoo to the rinse b/c soap kills virus. 1/...

And this is from Dr. Richard Boucher, who is part of the research group at UNC:
I want to write a story about all this. The possibility that you can keep the virus from traveling from the nose to the lungs, where it does real damage, is tantalizing. I’ve been waiting for results from the study though. They are literally testing this now.
I did it myself last night. No indication I’ve got the virus, but why not, right? Used netti pot mix with cooled boiled water and 3 squirts baby shampoo. It’s been about 14 hours and I feel no ill effects. Don’t do it right before bed. Plenty of instructions online how to.
Again, they’re studying it. Don’t know whether it helps. But wouldn’t it be great if we found a cheap, at home, prophylactic?
Perhaps I should clarify: they were three small squirts. Did I use too much? Not enough? Is this all a waste of time? Dunno.
