Dear patients and activists and charities and infrastructure organisations: if this Government decides to start another massive redisorganisation of NHS bodies, can we all agree to work together to STOP this utter waste of time and energy?
How about we change how services behave towards people who need them? That would be nice. And useful. And might make an actual difference.
No amount of fiddling around with tariffs and regulation and commissioning bodies and reporting lines and forms and logos and desk arrangements will change things for patients and families in and of itself.
So why not cut the c**p and get on with the real work? Change how professionals talk with, listen to and think about patients and families. Change where our time and energy and sanity is placed on the list of priorities.
This will not improve by changing which acronym professionals look up to or feel accountable towards (or hard done by).
How about we actually get service users, patients, families, communities into the room and ask: what matters to you? I bet my house and children on the fact that NHS E powers and commissioning structures won’t come up.
And don’t tell us EVER AGAIN that there is no money or time or headspace for this conversation if you waste another round of spending and headspace on this utter utter distraction. RANT OVER.
