some of yall say “fiction doesnt affect reality” but forget that the movie jaws is one of the biggest reasons why great white sharks are viewed as vengeful man-eaters and that actually ruined the population of great white sharks
at the time, not much research was done about sharks and their biology and habits, and the amount of recorded shark attacks were low. then the movie came out and everyone somehow believed that sharks could hold grudges (like they’d remember your face i guess)
combined with fear and a weird desire to feel like heroes, people started going out and just killing sharks. for why? cuz they were now public enemy number one, the movie obviously too good to not be true. it was actually a terrible time for marine biologists and sharks
so again, you can say that fiction doesn’t affect reality, youll just look like a fool
