I think we are currently looking at fantasy football roster construction sub-optimally. It's not about x amount of players at each position ("Draft 5 or 6 RBs!"). It needs to be adjusted by how early that pick was. No way 6 RBs are needed if you draft 3 RBs in the first 5 rounds.
If I start RB-WR-WR-WR-WR, it feels very wrong to make sure you draft 8 WRs still when I'll be weaker at RB, TE, and QB.
I like going heavy at one position and then not worrying about quality backups, instead loading up more depth spots at the other positions.

Basically ask myself: "Which available player has the best chance to beat somebody out of my starting roster?" If I start RB-RB-RB then it's going to be very hard for that 10th round RB to beat out one of the early RBs. The 10th round WR easily could beat out my 7th round WR tho.
