I really fucking love Hong Kong
I’ve got wee Piper today so we’re trying a new hike from Victoria Peak to Aberdeen. Had to pop around the front for *the view* first 😍
The route starts at Peel Rise and looks pretty straightforward. Although I am cursed with directional insanity so there’s still a good chance I’ll get lost.
Passing by some of the world’s most expensive real estate. * switches on Happn* 💋
Peel Rise looks very pretty
Nice and shade for the pupster
I can here a waterfall but no idea how to reach it. Could really do with a cool down 🔥
*hear*
Found a tiny rock pool for Piper at least
It’s so pretty here. I can’t hear any traffic at all and it’s got that lovely jungle smell. Tropical flowers in bloom and mushrooms as big as dinner plates
A man on his own just came walking towards me here, in the middle of nowhere. Anywhere else in the world I’d have tensed up and worried I was going to be raped and murders. But not in HK. Instead, we exchanged cheerful hellos.
Jackpot! We’ve found the base of the waterfall! 💦
Doggy heaven (also auntie heaven. Shoes straight off and on up to my thighs. Aaaaah)
Ive brought a sandwich so just going to sit here for a while.
Rock pool ‘n’ rollin
This might be my new favourite hike — downhill, shaded, no people and rock pools ❤️
Nearly all of Hong Kong country parks are dotted with lovely picnic areas, this one also has a foot massage garden! 🦶
A glimpse of Aberdeen through the trees as we near sea level again
Oh I’m at Aberdeen Cemetery, I’ve never been here before. It’s huge.
Old abandoned school on the last of Peel Rise into Aberdeen. Definitely full of 👻 👻 👻
Seemed mad not to walk to Aberdeen Harbour since I was so close. Don’t think I’ve been in Aberdeen this year.
When I was a kid, something like 50,000 ‘boat people’, Hakka descendants, used to live on the water in Aberdeen. We used to stop junks here to pick up huge blocks of ice. I remember all the slippery kids jumping on the decks so vividly. Now there’s about 1,000 dwellers left.
In recent history, Aberdeen has been best-known for its seafood stalls and restaurants, but like everywhere they’ve been hit hard by the virus too. Every single shop was closed today — on a Saturday.
And the most famous Aberdeen restaurant of them all — Jumbo. Featured in Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, closed as of March and the pier locked up.
