There’s constant criticism of today’s players on here (sometimes subtle, sometimes direct).
It seems like it’s always portrayed as a player deficiency/problem rather than something the coach allows, controls and maybe even promotes.

There’s talk about players not being competitive enough—yet practice is filled with fluff drills that aren’t scored and aren’t played against an opponent.
There’s talk about players not being accountable—yet the coach never apologizes or takes any blame for their mistakes.

There’s talk about players being poor in-game decision makers—yet practice rarely simulates the chaotic and messy nature of the game.
There’s talk about players failing to lead—yet the players have no voice and are never given genuine opportunities to lead one another.

There’s talk about players being slow learners—yet the coach hasn’t ever questioned their own beliefs, still teaching the same drills, concepts and (fake) fundamentals that were taught in 1990.
There’s talk about players who aren’t passionate about being in the gym—yet practice doesn’t consistently meet our natural yearning for mastery, autonomy and purpose that would almost certainly motivate someone to give it their all.
There’s talk about players being soft and unable to handle adversity—yet the coach has a tantrum after every turnover or bad call.
