I hope white people are seeing this for what it is. The administration is testing the waters for whether it's okay to clamp down on white people in the way they have always done with the rest of us. That's the difference this time around. You're not immune as usual.
Authoritarianism in the US is looks like breaking the white supremacist contract so that white people are also bound under systemic violence. Certain powers are trying to maintain their position. They used to do that with the express permission of Whiteness. Now they can't.
All of the things you're seeing have been happening to non-white people the whole time. But it was accepted. It was still called democracy. It only *becomes* authoritarian when it happens to white people. Because the unspoken contract is broken.
That's why there is a dual mode here for many people of color. On the one hand, we do need to stand together to oppose Trump. Because as things get worse for everybody, they will be especially worse for us. On the other hand, there has to be a reckoning for how we got here.

White people *must* teach themselves what it looks like to truly live by the principals of democracy and freedom. Not this lie where you speak the words and pretend while looking the other way when shit gets real. I've said it before, but I don't think we can help you with that.
