



The Different Stock Order Types
Limit:
- Order to buy/sell a stock at a specific price or better
- Used when you have a target entry or exit price
Market:
- Want to buy/sell immediately at the current price when the order gets filled
Stop Market:
- An order to buy/sell stock at market price once the stock has reached the stock price.
Stop Limit:
- Order to buy/sell at a specific price or better.
- Once price reached, stop limit becomes a limit order
- An order to buy/sell stock at market price once the stock has reached the stock price.
Stop Limit:
- Order to buy/sell at a specific price or better.
- Once price reached, stop limit becomes a limit order
Why or Why Not Stop?
- Stop orders are not visible to the market while limit orders are.
- Personally for investing, I only use limit. I see no need for stop limits, but if you disagree let me know if I could be investing better
