I don't want to sound alarmist but am willing to stick my neck out. Doctors - some with rich experience of 30 years - have told me Valley needs to plan NOW and get 10k covid beds ready in next 2 months. Ideally, a big stadia, a good land chunk easily approachable be set aside.
For building a makeshift (prefab) facility with liberal oxygen supply - a few plants can do 2 - cylinders, concentrators and ventilators.
Or govt can raise 5 facilities in different districts containing 2k beds each with oxygen points. But vote is for a central facility.

These doctors are looking at the data of last 10 days - in 4 days, 2600 fresh covid cases added. By evening we are likely to cross 16k cases, though 8500 have recovered. Ten a day or slightly less have died in last 10 days.
The 35 k migrant labours - 100 tested positive till Monday - will further strain an already fragile healthcare system and tiring medical staff. More test reports of labours are awaited and it is assumed a few hundred more will carry the viral strains.
Obviously with a few hundred testing for microbe daily and migrant factor included, the rush will further cramp up space at the existing facilities. Assuming, 300 test per day, in 30 days we will have 9k cases. In two months 18k. Even if half recovers, we are left with 9k +ives.
These days, a good chunk of patients contract bilateral pneumonia. For that we need a decent centralised facility with teams of senior doctors taking decision on daily basis. Now is the time our doctors decide, plan and babus listen and provide things. Not the other way around.
We can and will defeat covid provided we are at it. People will have to do their own individualistic lockdowns and be sticklers to covid discipline. Planners too need not lose sight at what some doctors are staring at. Plan now than be sorry later.
