Here’s my thread on why #mufc fans should still be confident to get a positive result against Leicester despite the recent lows:
Already this season we beat a FULL strength Leicester side 1-0 with this starting XI. Pereira, Mata, James And Young all starting... with Bruno, Pogba, Greenwood and Martial nowhere to be seen. Leicester will be without Chilwell, Maddison, Soyuncu And Pereira who played that day.
This is a cup final. As much as people label us ‘bottlejobs’, we have a lot more players with experience in big finals (World Cup, Euros, Europa League, FA Cup finals etc) with Pogba, Bruno, De Gea, Rashford and co. Leicester’s team has nowhere close comparable experience.
Our last few PL games into context: United 5pts from last 9, Chelsea 3pts from last 9, Leicester 3pts from last 9.

Fatigue has hit everyone and we have not dropped off worse than any other rival.
Our two recent draws were due to set-piece goals but we have still ONLY conceded only 3 goals in open play since lockdown.

Leicester have managed 9 points and we have managed 18 points. Don’t label us as bottlejobs in comparison to a team who have let a FOURTEEN point lead slip.
Tactically speaking, Leicester suit us better than Southampton or West Ham did. Yes they may press but with their 3 slow centre-backs, inexperienced full-backs and ill-discipline they are a very vulnerable side.
Pushing hard for a win v Spurs (like they will be against us), they were vulnerable. The ball was recovered from a Leicester attack and put into Kane’s path, when he turned the midfielder, Leicester’s fullbacks were well out of position leaving pacy wingers v a static back 3.
This wasn’t a one off occurrence. Leicester lose possession from their full backs and their midfielders contributing to their own attack leave their defence again exposed 3 v 3. Rashford, Martial and Greenwood should really fancy themselves to get a couple vs that defence.
Leicester press all over but United should play them at their own game. Press them right from the front with Martial, Bruno and Rashford. As we saw in the Arsenal game, pressing high can see Leicester lose the ball with their ball-carriers and it causes them all sorts of trouble.
Stick to the trusted 4-2-3-1 and let Rashford, Martial and Greenwood go flourish and have full intention to win. A decision to go with a Back 5 / to play for a draw would be suicidal. United should back themselves to get the result to take us back to the promised land. #mufc
