Love seeing a fully costed plan from the official opposition. I know that there might be some sticker shock and you might say we can't afford this. HOWEVER, this plan covers not only parent concerns but educators concerns with how to get students back to school. 1/5

As taxpayers we should view this as Emergency Funding. We declared a state of emergency that lasted months and closed schools. So, similar to how we paid for the 2013 Floods or the Fort McMurray Fire we should pay emergency funding to safely return families to the classroom. 2/5
The NDP plan covers 740,000 students for the entire school year and costs an estimated $1 billlion dollars.

Let's compare that to the 2013 Flood and the 2016 Fort McMurray Fire which fit the criteria of A) State of Emergency and B) people impacted. 3/5
The 2013 cost the province over $5 billion dollars and 100,000 people were displaced throughout the region.

The 2016 Fort McMurray forced 88,000 people to evacuate their homes and cost the province (in early estimates) $647 million. Insurance covered $3.68 billion dollars. 4/5
The value of the NDP's plan is that it keeps kids and teachers safe. The BONUS is that it will help numerous individuals and families (especially women) to return to the workforce which will grow our tax base and help flow money through to our economy. 5/5
