I wasn't going to say anything but I do need to point out two things
1. What would an artist ask that would give them the answer to avoid working with that group "are you a hate group"

2. It makes sense if he just discovered that they existed yesterday that he is more angry at the people attacking him than the hate group. He has no context except yesterday. It's easy to SAY you'd be a saint and not outraged, but that's dishonest.
It's CRUEL for any of us to move the line of culpability here to feel more justified in being angry at him. If anything, we need to look at ourselves (a general "ourselves")
We wanna fight them? We wanna keep this from happening? We have to be proactively informative

It's worth it to turn to your friend (or coworker, or the creative) that isn't on SM a lot and, instead of waiting for THEM to come up
Turn and say "hey heads up, these folk have been around and do fucked up shit. If you hear about xyz, hit me up and I'll tell you what's what"

I know I've done this for people, and people have done this for me
But we have to be better about it bc these are the people they target. Those who don't know. They make sure to engineer situations like this
