Mikel Arteta's impact on Arsenal this season:

(A THREAD) - likes and RTs are appreciated
Under Arteta, Arsenal have looked more composed in their build-up play and more confident in playing from the back. A really great example of this was against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final. An 18 pass move which led to our first of 2 goals in the win.
In defence, Arteta's side has conceded 1.05 goals a game. Under Emery, that figure was 1.46.

Adjusted to a 38 game season, Arteta would have only conceded 40 goals. Just 7 less than PL winners Liverpool. Under Emery, that number goes up to 55. One more than 15th placed Brighton.
In attack under Arteta, the side has scored 31 goals in 19 games - 1.63 goals scored a game, which amounts to a 62 goal season.

Under Emery, we scored 1.38 goals a game, which amounts to 52 goals in a 38 game season, only 1 more than 11th placed Southampton.
We finished the season with 56 points in 8th place. In Arteta's 19 games in charge, he won 1.68 points per game. With adjustment, that's 64 points for a season, 2 points off top 4.

Had Emery stayed for the season, his 1.38 points per game would've finished 11th with 52 points.

5 more games won, 4 less draws, 1 less loss.

Despite 8 less goals scored, Arteta's focus was on fixing our defense. 16 less goals conceded with 5 more clean sheets.
Furthermore, these improvements were made without big money signings in the January window, with loans only being made for Cedric and Pablo Mari to give our defense more depth in case of injury or to give other defenders game time in games such as those in the cup competitions.
This summer transfer window will really show whether or not the board are ready to invest in Mikel. Arsenal ranked 16th itl for chances created, so a creative midfielder is needed. A CB to play with Saliba & a ball progressing midfielder such as Partey would help improve the team
