I'm taking a math class online, and here's a few things I've learned as you think about your classes. 1/6
1. Videos longer than 15 minutes wear me out. It is hard to find big blocks of time, and starting and stopping the video makes it tough to focus and jump back in. 2/6
2. Talk slower. Provide a transcript. I am trying to take notes so I have them to go back to later and I often end up having to watch the same 15 seconds like 3 times in order to get it down. 3/6
3. I don't care about production at all other than I can hear the professor and see what I need to see. This professor records a video of themselves talking while teaching, but I'd be fine with just audio too. 4/6
4. Please roadmap and book end your videos. Tell me what I'm learning - what should I get out of this video, so by the end I can double check myself at the end and make sure I've got it. 5/6
That's it. Honestly, don't waste time on doing anything fancy. In my opinion, students don't need it and you likely already have limited time/energy. Spend that elsewhere. 6/6
