Okay, I’m 99% convinced it’s Jolene. Especially after re-watching Jolene and noticing all of the similarities! 
1. Waverly’s outfit in the garden changed to a similar outfit she wore in Jolene. (The feathered coat).
2. When the Earps were setting up a trap, Jolene’s voice called Waverly outside (exactly like “Nicole’s” voice called her in the garden basement.

3. Jolene threw a knife towards Waverly in the greenhouse, just like Mercedes threw one at Wynonna in 4x1. Parallels.

5. The horrid sound Jolene made when Waverly chucked the knife away, is similiar to the awful sound we heard in the s3 finale when the garden took Waverly.
6. The thorns took Jolene just like they took Waverly. And the thorns pinned Jolene to the tree, like Waverly was pinned!

7. Just before Jolene was taken away by the thorns, she was trapped in a devils trap, created by Michelle Gibson. In the trailer for the next episide, “Nicole” mentions being in a CAGE.
Credit to @TheSaxyOne for the next observation; it would make sense that Waverly chose her own book, therefore she has to face her most difficult challenge yet again; her own demon/temptation = Jolene.

Okay, one more thing to add, which is VERY important. Jolene referred to Waverly as a “changeling”, but what if Jolene is a changeling?! And guess what changelings can do? Shapeshift into someone else!
