Microaggressions in society and work places
Speak to colleagues, allies and work proactively, rather than when a racist incident has happened. Have conversations around white privilege, create an environment where open & honest conversations can take place. #bameonline

‘It’s not ‘radical’ to work towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce. If you want to distribute money equitably, then do your job well and better....work in an anti-racist way. It’s a call of action’ #Bameonline
@MarthaAwojobi on asking do you need to be a person of colour to build authentic relationships in fundraising?
Panel - Yes and no. Gives personal connection, added cultural knowledge but also No as it’s more appreciated if you embrace the ethos, show value and support.

Call to action:
To fully acknowledge racial injustice in society, we need to look at our own organisations.
Be honest, have uncomfortable conversations, why are you now engaging with BAME people? Is it value driven or money driven? #bameonline

Create spaces for POC in your organisation to share knowledge and experiences in a safe environment. Take a sense of accountability and commitment. If you don’t have the answers - call in experts to help. It’s ok to admit you need help.

I am LOVING @Camalamalamz energy at the @FundEverywhere session! The panel are speaking of the importance of LISTENING and it’s reminding me of the @listeningfund. We all need to create #SafeSpaces and #BraveSpaces for POC AFTER listening first.
Wow, just listened to the most impassioned and honest account by @sabashafi86 on #ImposterSyndrome for women of colour. I resonated so much and it made me hella emotional. My heart is literally pounding but I’m all up for bossing with @Camalamalamz. Thank you @FundEverywhere
Moving on from BLM statements....
Lack of data
Use data in the most relevant and accurate forms from the onset. Not later, not once ‘you’ve researched’ and not once ‘you’ve found time’

My sum up of the brill speakers on each panel is not worthy in this thread, but I feel invigorated, more confident, & ready to make changes. Listening to lived experiences of POC and resonating with them, has revitalised me! @FundEverywhere #BAMEonline
