I don't know who needs to hear this but there is low income housing in my rural neighborhood.

3 decades ago I lived there with my then wife and newborn baby.

It was/is clean and quiet and we honestly might have been homeless otherwise.

I am still thankful whenever I drive by.
Generations of productive Americans have used low income housing as a stepping stone to home ownership and emergency stop-gap to avoid homelessness.

Many elderly use it because they have no alternativ due to beinge on a fixed income and little or no family support.
Low income housing is literally a way to facilitate the American dream.

If it causes some small drop in the value of the home I now own, than that it's a small price to pay for the help my young family received.

And honestly would be offset by a lower property tax bill.
It seems that a large portion of America chooses to ignore the times they've received help, and vilify those that need it now.

Those that need or have needed help are not of any less value than those who have not.

It is our responsibility to try to provide a path to the dream.
