High immigration and population growth is a massive addictive strategy for the laziest wealthy people. It does so much for them it is hard to give up. A thread.
Immigration instantly creates growth in customers for their favourite assets. You will notice things here that are both assets and necessities in life now. No accident that.

At the same time it adds to the demand for assets it adds to the supply of labour and helps to suppress wages. If it were about in demand skills the average migrant wage wouldn't be below median wage. And temporary immigration does the same.
High immigration is a huge boost for land development but you will also notice the crowding occurs mostly in lower socieconomic areas. The population growth in Lucy Turnbull's area is amongst the lowest. Neolibs love growth in YOUR area. Not theirs.
The real estate and banking industry love high immigration because it creates huge competition for a limited asset and increases the size of the deals for them. Existing owners live it for the same reason.
Always people ready to call you stupid if you think these things and purport to have evidence showing you how dumb and xenophobic you are. But evidence they have is weak and compromised. It doesn't make any sense but they are SO SMART. Oh and wealthy from benefiting from it.
But. Immigration at better more sensitive levels with better laws and boundaries IS a great thing. I think they make a great contribution to Australia. To reconsider immigration rates IS NOT xenophobic or racist. Stand up and politely disagree.
