While final details of the deal are sorted out... a few thoughts about the Ferran Torres move to Man City.

City buy for cheap a MASSIVE player. I've followed him for a while (since he was an U-15) and he's the most similar player to Vicente Rodríguez since Vicente himself.

A balance must be struck for any player between his raw potential and the eagerness to progress. Maybe the move to a giant side has been made too early. But having Guardiola is an absolute guarantee. If Ferran obeys the coach, he'll become world-class. No doubt about that.

I don't think Ferran's behaviour during the talks to extend his contract has been the greatest. Even if VCF's project is non-existent, he owed VCF some respect as it's the club he's belonged to since a kid and fostered his talent. Leaving this way is ungrateful.

We must look at the club and consider this as a failure of the propaganda 'youth policy' they've tried to persuade everyone they're carrying out. Yes, Alemany was unable to extend his contract, but he was strapped powerless in July 2019. THEY HAD ONE YEAR to persuade the kid.

At the end of the day, the 'youth policy' is smoke and mirrors. Take Guillamon, for example; VCF ignored him for so long and only after a few starting line-ups and showing he was elite, they then quickly offered him an extension. Guillamon stayed even he was out of a contract.

€25m + up to €12m in bonus is an absolute bargain for Ferran. The fact is that VCF should've tried harder since 2018 to extend his contract and, if he decided to go, leave behind a 70-80 million transfer fee. All parts involved were selfish. And City just bagged the prize.

We're now facing a few fun days with some fans calling Ferran 'a rat' in order to avoid blaming Meriton for their incompetence, and others slamming Meriton fully while not pointing the finger at the eagerness of the kid to leave. Me? I move comfortably in grey areas.
