Balan was simultaneously associated with Fazil's Manivathoorile Aayiram Shivarathrikal which was being shot in Ooty, and was shuttling between locations.
Soon after some days of shoot, Stanley had a cardiac arrest, got hospitalised..

@Mohanlal reportedly told Padmarajan that let Balan reach the location from Ooty and he (Balan) would've some solution for the crisis.He (Lalettan) wanted the shoot not to get stopped..

...and agreed to pay all expenses from his pocket till Balan comes. Shoot went on without interruptions.
Since Stanley was not in picture anymore, someone else had to produce the film. Balan agreed to do so. He paid Stanley for the portions shot, and took over the remaining.

Balan remained a loyal friend and companion of Padmarajan till his very end. He was sharing the room with him on that ill-fated night on 24th jan 1991, at paramount Towers in Calicut.
He left film production thereafter.
