It’s #EidAlAdha today. Normally, Muslims would be praying in large congregations in mosques and then visiting family and friends. Because of the pandemic, this isn’t possible and people must be feeling sad. If you are feeling sad that you can’t pray in a mosque or visit your 1/6
...family and friends, then I’d like you to think about what I’m going to say next. The concept of lockdown is recognised in Islam. The Prophet (pbuh) said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it, but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are 2/6
... in it, do not leave that place.” Sahih al-Bukhari, 5728. Although this Hadith talks specifically about plague, it is applicable to any epidemic/pandemic. So, if you’re feeling sad about not being able to go to the mosque and visit relatives remember by following lockdown 3/6
...restrictions you are not only obeying government’s instructions but are also obeying the Prophet (pbuh). The other thing to remember is that this Eid commemorates the great sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim was willing to make. Our sacrifice of not seeing family and friends in 4/6
...order to protect ourselves, our family and friends and the community is nothing when compared to what we are commemorating. Even the Hajj has been done under restrictions. We are lucky that technology is available which allows us to take part in virtual prayers and meet 5/6
...people we want to. So, obey restrictions, wear a mask, wash hands and stay safe. #EidMubarak 6/6
