2/ Stephen Ferraro, MS4 from @UWMedicine presented a case on 'Septated Development'. Dr. Zhang @IMUS_Spokane provided faculty discussion
Clinical exam + POCUS = powerhouse tool!
Septations = marker of badness
Serial POCUS: helps guide progression, & thoracentesis

3/ Dr. Heyne @medpocus @MGHMedicine presented a case of dry cough/hypotension in a 40 y.o.
Dr. Salame @jerrysalame79 provided faculty discussion.
COVID Cardiac involvement ~ 20%
POCUS a ‘must’ in Covid+ patients, if:
EKG changes
High/rising trops
Hypotension
Dr. Salame @jerrysalame79 provided faculty discussion.

4/ Dr. Hron, PGY-3 @umnmedresidency presented with
Dr. Verner from @_HealthPartners providing expert discussion.
Lung POCUS:
Similar to chest CT for dyspnea & hypoxemia (sens, 85%; spec, 93%).
100% sens for >100mL effusions. Can detect as low as 5mL!
Dr. Verner from @_HealthPartners providing expert discussion.
Lung POCUS:

5/ Jina Bai, PA-C @WeillCornell presented on 'Catfished! Bladder Ultrasound.' Dr. Roy-Burman provided faculty discussion.
Bladder vol is easy to measure
Distinguish hydro from cysts
Bladder is post & inf to symphysis pubis. Consider other fluid-filled structures on ddx.

6/ Dr. Weinstein from @NorthwellHealth presented with Dr. @LMKurian providing discussion
Blue protocol helpful for dyspnea
All POCUS should be integrated POCUS. Don’t anchor on 1 organ system
Tamponade is a clinical dx but also hard to call tamponade if IVC is collapsing

7/ Dr. Kwan @UNC_SOM presented with Dr. @ria_dancel providing discussion
Common cardiac mass-like structures include thrombi & vegetations – 2 conditions should not rule out with POCUS but could rule in if grossly abnormal.
Moderator band & trabeculations often mimics!

8/ Dr. Williams from @EmoryMedicine presented with Dr. @bboesch providing discussion
Move from “Can you scan the IVC for volume status?” to “Can you evaluate volume status with POCUS?”
IVC = RAP/CVP relationship is good but CVP = volume status is not good.
