šŸ”„ COMIC-MAKING TIPS for animation peeps interested in giving comics a try šŸ”„

Paneling and lettering are aspects in comics that make them different from storyboards so that’s what these tips will focus on! šŸ’šŸ»
• Panel size affects how long the reader looks at the panel, save big panels for big moments and smaller panels for quick moments.

• Try to end pages on a ā€œpage turnerā€, like a character asking a question and getting the answer on the next page.

• Keep dialogue concise and short so it’s easier to read and lay out in a page.
• Dialogue adds a layer to the story, it’s generally a no to write dialogue explaining something that can be shown visually.
• Make your word balloons into a diamond shape rather than a ā€œhoagieā€.
@JesnCin explain how to avoid ā€œhoagieā€ balloons and have nicely-shaped balloons!

• Comics has a LOT of freedom so experiment with line quality, color, limited palette, inking, etc.

• Reading a large variety of comics and studying different genres/styles will show in your work and will provide to be a more unique style.
Pages are from Raina Telgemeier’s Drama, Jillian and Mariko Tamaki’s Skin, Anna Syvertsson’s Rule Break, and Inio Asano’s Solanin!

So much you can do! šŸ’•
Lastly, it doesn’t matter what medium you use or if you’re not perfect with your drawing foundations, just as long as it’s readable and clear storytelling for your personal comics.

There’s no need to stress on what materials and skills you need to make a one.

Have fun!
